When I was a kid, I wondered how a whole nation could be so blind as to follow a devil. Hitler was never something that could happen in America. Well, we have our explanation.
The new devil is human. He comes in the guise of a politician. It was bound to happen. The country was ripe for repressed egos that wanted power. Now they follow the head devil for their own gains. Surely it's not because they believe his mania. It's because they want peripheral power and are willing to prostitute their earthly souls for a piece of what they perceive as power.
Not all politicians are corrupt devils. But power is the new coin and the current fascist powermongers are following in lockstep.
I heard on NPR recently a Christian pastor who zeroed in on the hypocrisy of "devote Christians" (the alt right) like JD Vance. Jesus showed by example caring for the poor, oppressed, and shunned. What ICE is doing now is nothing more than a repeat of the rounding up of the Jews for persecution of birth origin. Shame on you, Vance, and shame on all followers of the tainted Midas touch of the orange one.
